The Chamber of Trade exists to support businesses in the town. Chamber members are available to advise new members based on our experience and to put members with a question in touch with the correct council officers.

Waste management
The heritage architecture that distinguishes Dewsbury is one of our greatest assets. The council makes clear in the Waste Management Design Guide 2020 that "waste collection is one of the main visual representations of the taxes local people pay for Council services. It affects every household, in perpetuity. If this service is affected by poor design and ill-considered infrastructure the lasting impact can be extremely negative for residents, service providers, and the wider community."
Business owners are urged to ensure that their architect or other contractor managing any development complies with the Waste Management Design Guide 2020 in order to preserve the best of our town. And that their tenants and residents clearly understand and comply with the waste management processes in place for their property.
Compliance and Enforcement
We are also aware that some traders may attempt to circumvent normal business practice either deliberately or through ignorance of the law thereby frustrating the aims of the Chamber working in partnership with the council and the Neighbourhood Board to develop our town in the best possible way.
In the event that a breach of planning rules appears to have taken place then anyone can follow this link to make an enforcement complaint.
